What is Moksha or Mukti or Liberation?

Different traditions explain it slightly differently, but the main idea is the same: realizing your true spiritual nature.

In 🕉️ Hinduism

Moksha can happen through different paths:

  1. Jnana Yoga (Path of Knowledge)
Realizing that the soul (Atman) is one with Brahman (ultimate reality).
  2. Bhakti Yoga (Path of Devotion)
Deep devotion and surrender to God.
  3. Karma Yoga (Path of Action)
Doing good actions without attachment to results.
  4. Raja Yoga (Path of Meditation)
Meditation and control of the mind.

When ignorance (Avidya) ends, the soul is liberated.

In ☸️ Buddhism

Liberation (often called Nirvana) happens by:

  • Following the Eightfold Path
  • Removing desire and attachment
  • Understanding the true nature of reality

In 🕊️ Jainism

Moksha happens when:

  • All karma is completely removed from the soul
  • The soul becomes pure and free

In simple words:

Mokshya happens when a person:

  • Stops being controlled by ego and desires
  • Understands spiritual truth
  • Becomes peaceful and detached
  • Lives with wisdom and compassion
